Our patient had an unusual connective tissue problem affecting his upper lip. As can be seen in the adjacent photo, an abundance of gum tissue on the upper arch is exposed.Until just recently, the patient had assumed nothing could ever be done to correct or alter the tissues causing this unusual type of smile. After consulting with Dr. Nemeth, at the recommendation of his General Dentist, he was thrilled to learn of the details of periodontal surgical treatments that would create what Mother Nature normally provides. The patient understood that he had a condition that represents one of many varieties of different types of connective tissue and lip repositioning surgeries that have been available through our office for several years. The upper arch support structures have been effectively changed and provide more normalized movement of the lips for the patient. Dental function was unaltered.Our patient was thrilled with the outcome. He now has a smile that shows off his teeth with a smile and smile line that fits his facial features.
